This years running of the US Open Wheel Championships will take place at Bumps and Jumps R/C Raceway in Etters, PA. Anyone who has raced at Bumps and Jumps knows that this is a top notch facility with a well stocked hobby shop, great snack bar and one of the most competetive tracks in the country. Track owner Chris Mckinney has already begun making some additional improvents to the facility for this years event. Newly designed and rebuilt pit benches and a fresh coat of paint are just the beginning.
A NEW QUALIFYING FORMAT will be in place for this years race that we think will help make for a much more enjoyable event for all the racers. We will be utilizing a qualifying points system for the heats where only your best single round will count for your qualifying position. We fell that this new format will give more drivers more opportunities at a good qualifying spot regardless of track conditions throughout the week. We
will again utilize a list of Expert Class drivers that are not elligible to
enter the 13.5 Electric or Limited Nitro classes. This list currently includes
any driver who qualified for a nitro or modified A-main in 2005 and 2006.
Also all drivers who won a stock or limited nitro A-main or finished in the
top 5 in a modified or open nitro class at the 2007 or 2008 event have been added
to this years expert drivers list.
